Rayon’s new signing promises goals

Burundi international forward Abdul Razak Fiston has signed a two-year contract with the reigning Rwandan league champions Rayon Sports from Congo Brazzaville side Diables Noir ‘Black devils’.

Burundi international forward Abdul Razak Fiston has signed a two-year contract with the reigning Rwandan league champions Rayon Sports from Congo Brazzaville side Diables Noir ‘Black devils’. The contract will keep him at the club until 2015. Rayon sports wanted to sign the striker back in January but the deal failed. He  has been brought in to supplement his compatriot and last season’s top scorer, Amiss Cedric in search for goals.Rayon Sports chairman, also the Nyanza District Mayor, Abdullah Murenzi hailed his team’s signing of the attacker. "He is a good forward and is renowned in the whole region because of his goal-scoring capacity, We are expecting  him be productive for Rayon Sports.”"We bought him to help us retain the league title next season and represent well the country in the CAF Champions’ League,” Murenzi told the media early in the week.This year, Abdul Razak, who helped his team Diables Noir to finish second in the Congo Brazzaville Premier League and qualify for CAF Champions’ League, featured for his country’s side Lydia Ludic in 2012 and helped them qualify for CAF Confederations Cup before he left. Lydia Ludic eliminated Rwanda’s debutants Police FC from this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.Last year, Abdul Razak was among 32 top players competing for the award of the best player that plays for a local country’s league not abroad.Burundian international Abdul Razak told his new team’s website, "I am happy to sign for Rayon Sports; I won’t be alone as am joining many countrymen, who have been playing for the team. I hope to score many goals for this club. I have been doing it for my previous teams and I am confident I will continue scoring.”"What I want is to help Rayon Sports reach a higher level, we will compete in the CAF Champions’ League and we will try to go as far as possible in the championship.”The Blues are also in advanced talks with Police FC’s goalie Evariste Mutuyimana, who is said to have agreed transfer terms with the Nyanza-based seven-time league champions.
