The City of Kigali Mayor and AS Kigali FC honorary president Fidele Ndayisaba says his team are favourites to win this year’s Peace Cup against Malaria title.AS Kigali take on Primus league rivals AS Muhanga in the final scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the Amahoro National Stadium, kick off at 3pm. On the same day, AS Kigali women team will be officially crowned the 2012-13 league champions for the fifth year running.AS Kigali men’s team reached the final after edging holders APR on penalties in semis following a 1-all draw, the final opponents AS Muhanga saw off second division side Bugesera 2-1 on goals aggregate over the two legs.AS Kigali finished sixth with 39 points last season. The team has an added motivation to win today’s game after the City Mayor, Ndayisaba revealed that the prize money will be shared by the players and coaching staff."We need to win Saturday’s final (today) if we are to finish the season on a high with our two teams (AS Kigali men and women). We have done everything for the team to win in terms of financial and moral support, and I believe we won’t be disappointed,” the City of Kigali Mayor told Saturday Sport yesterday.He added, "Our two teams have performed well this season, most especially the women’s side, who won the title unbeaten. The season has not been bad for AS Kigali teams and we hope to do even better next season.”"The men’s team did not accomplish its targets 100% but if they can win on Saturday, it is going to be more than we set out to achieve.”"We want to celebrate both titles (women’s league and Peace Cup titles), so we would be a bit disappointed if we lose to AS Muhanga in the final,” he stated.
