Defending champions and table leaders Police handball club and archrivals Gicumbi all won their respective league matches over the weekend to continue leading the race for the title.Holders Police beat Nyamirambo-based Nyakabanda handball club 35-20 to stay at the top of the table with 21 points, level with second-placed Gicumbi, who thrashed student side Groupe Scolaire Rambura 57-21 to reduce the gap of goal difference between them and Police."To win with such a big score is a huge statement for our rivals and I am happy to win this game, especially after losing to Police two weeks ago.  For us, the race for the title is still very much wide open,” Gicumbi’s head coach Ebenezel Murenzi told Times Sport.He added, "We want to win this year’s league title and are determined to give everything possible to make it happen. We last won the league in 2008, and, for us, five years without winning it (league) is too long and we’re determined to bring it to an end.”The match between Police and National University of Rwanda (NUR) did not take place due to unavailability of NUR student-players, who were preparing for examinations.Elsewhere, former champions APR drew 26-26 with the 2013 Inter-school champions Ecole Secondaire Kigoma. Police and Gicumbi are tied on 21 points but Police are  top courtesy of a better goal difference (7) over Gicumbi. Kigoma are third with 19 points, while 2010 champions APR are on fourth position with 17 points.
