Rusizi-based Primus national football league side Espoir FC has extended contracts of six senior players by one year until the end of 2013/2014 season.

Espoir, who finished tenth with 26 points last season, are building a team that can compete for a better finishing in the table next season, according to the newly appointed head coach Emmanuel Ruremesha.

The six players that saw their contracts extended include; former Amavubi Stars forward Saidi Abedi Makasi, ex-Rayon Sports defender Aimable Rucogoza, Clement Mukunzi, Jacques Uwimana, DR Congo-born Govin Motombo and former Police FC defender Deo Otieno.

"Two seasons in the top flight division are enough for any team to get enough experience, so our target is not only to consolidate our position in the league but also to finish as a high in the table as possible every season,” Ruremesha told Times Sport on Tuesday.

"The process of renewing the players’ contracts as well as signing new players is still ongoing, we still need to add to this squad a couple of new players, who should be Rwandans.

"Espoir, like any other club in the league, is committed to using Rwandan players,” stated the former Kibuye, La Jeunesse and Mukura coach. He said that his team will start their pre-season training on July 8. Last week, former Kiyovu goalkeeper Bate Shamilu became Ruremesha’s first signing on a free transfer.
