Sixty riders to compete in Genocide memorial race

Up to 60 local riders from different parts of the country will compete in this year’s Genocide Memorial race,  slated for 15 June, the organisers Rwanda Cycling Federation have confirmed.

Up to 60 local riders from different parts of the country will compete in this year’s Genocide Memorial race,  slated for 15 June, the organisers Rwanda Cycling Federation have confirmed. According to the federation officials, on June 14, all Ferwacy members will visit the Kigali Memorial Centre. The following day, the riders will set off from Nyanza in Kicukiro District to Nemba in Bugesera District near the Burundi border and return to Kigali. The riders will cover a total distance of 107km. Also, as part of the activities, on 14 June there will be the screening of the Team Rwanda movie ‘Rising from Ashes’ at Lemigo Hotel, starting at 7pm.Rwanda Cycling federation will be showing the growth journey of national cycling team ‘Team Rwanda’ and progress of the sport in the country 19 years after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
