Attention turns to Algeria

Amavubi stunned their West African opponents over the weekend in a 1-all draw in Bamako. Head coach Eric Nshimiyimana, whose primary task is to prepare a winning team for the 2014 CHAN qualifiers, which start on next month, is aiming to win the remaining two games, starting with Algeria on Sunday in Kigali before ending the campaign in Porto-Novo against Benin.The team has been boosted with the introduction of midfielder Alfred Martin Mugabo, who plies his trade with Arsenal’s reserve team and APR’s Tumaine Ntamuhanga, who missed the Mali clash due to a knee injury. Defender Michel Rusheshangoga and striker Meddie Kagere, who got minor knocks at the weekend, are expected to be ready in time for Sunday’s clash.The Desert Foxes top Group H with nine points, while Mali are second with 7 points, Benin are third with four points and Rwanda are bottom with two points.
