Nkuranga retires to join APR coaching staff

Former national team player, Alexis Nkuranga has retired from playing volleyball to join the coaching staff of APR.

Former national team player, Alexis Nkuranga has retired from playing volleyball to join the coaching staff of APR.

The veteran right attacker has played for different teams including Christ Roi Nyanza, Kigali Volleyball Club before he joined APR in 2006.

He was part of the national team which finished in second position in KAVCO Nairobi – Kenya, seventh position in Africa National Cup in Durban – South African, third place in All African Games Qualification in Khartoum – Sudan.

He helped Rwanda to finish in fifth position in African National Championship in Cairo – Egypt, eighth Position in All African Games in Abuja – Nigeria; he was also in national team to finish in seventh position in African National Championship in Cairo – Egypt.

League winner: 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, 2003, 2002, Genocide Memorial Tournament: 2012, 2011, 2010, 2008, 2007in APR and 2006, 2002 in Kigali Volleyball Club and Rutsindura winner in 2006, 2005.

He won Rutsindura Memorial Tournament: 2010, 2008 and 2007 with APR. He won KAVC Memorial tournament with KVC and Winner of Amical Tournament (Burundi) and he played for the National Team Player junior.

Other veteran plans, who have stopped playing volleyball including Elie Mutabazi, Benjamin Kangabo, Cesar Rubayita, Jean Pierre Uwahoro aka Big Mister), Savior Salama, Dieudonne, Jean De Dieu Uwimana, Leon Fidele Mutesi.
