Rwanda international volleyball right attacker Lawrence Yakan Guma has been crowned the Most Valuable Player in the Algeria after his side Etoile Sportive Setif won the Algerian Cup on Saturday.

Seitif beat archrivals Alger’s 3-1 to win the inaugural Algerian Cup. "I have been enjoying my game there. I have achieved something good so I am happy as a player after achieving my dream of winning a trophy in Algeria,” Yakan told Times Sport by phone from Algiers.

The Uganda born player joined Seitif two seasons ago; he helped the team finish in second position in the first year, and the same position against this year before winning the National Cup.

"I am happy with the MVP award, but what is most important is that the team has won the title this season. We have been doing well this year and I hope it will help us do even better next season,” he stated.

The former APR player added, "I have learned a lot and I have achieved many things with my team. I hope the achievement and experience I have gained from here (Algeria) will help the national team.”

Rwanda’s other professional players include; Qatar-based trio of national team skipper Christophe Mukunzi, Placide Sibomana and Vincent Dusabimana Gasongo.
