AS Kigali retains women league title

KIGALI city sponsored women football club, AS Kigali won their fifth consecutive league title over the weekend after a 1-all draw against The Winners.

They won all their previous sixteen league games to collect 48 points.AS Kigali head coach, Grace Nyinawumuntu said, "We are champions once again and we are happy for having achieved this feat. This was a difficult match but we are glad that we collected a point.” She said."We must ensure that we finish the season on a bright note by winning the remaining three matches,” added Coach Nyinawumuntu.The five-time champions AS Kigali still have to play against Kamonyi, Inyemera and Les Lionnais respectively.Elsewhere, former champions APR beat les Lionnais 2-1; Inyemera were held to an -all draw by Musanze based team ESIR while Urumuri lost 1-0 to Rambura at camp Kigali stadium.The match between Bugesera and Imirasire was not played because majority of Bugesera players featured in the finals of Copa Coca Cola tournament in Rubavu District. The game has been postponed to June 5.
