SaturdayNyakabanda vs        Police RubavuAPR      vs    PoliceE.SE.Kigoma  vs       G.S.RamburaRWANDA National Handball premier league reaches its eighth round this Saturday as league leaders Gicumbi handball club takes a rest.The former champions who dominated the handball league for four consecutive years from 2002 to 2006, Kigali Institute of Education KIE handball club has abandoned the championship due to financial constraints.KIE was supposed to play NUR handball club but as they are no longer part of the league, NUR, just like Gicumbi will also be resting this weekend.Alfred Twahirwa, Rwanda handball federation’s secretary general told Times Sport, "The competition has been higher this year unlike in the previous season where Police handball club dominated the sport defeating easily its opponents.”"Sadly, KIE decided to quit the league although they were one of the strong teams in the championship but others are still competing with a good spirit.” This weekend, Nyakabanda is playing Police of Rubavu; title defenders Police handball club face military side APR while second-placed G.S Rambura visit E.S Kigoma.In women’s handball league, group one which comprises Gorillas handball club, E.S Kigoma and G.S Mwendo played its first round matches early this month, leaving their group two which is made up of Cyuru, NUR and KIE set to play its round one matches on June 16.
