COPA Coca Cola finals set for this weekend

This year’s fifth edition of the COPA Coca Cola football tournament enters the semi-finals and finals this weekend in Rubavu District in the Western Province.

This year’s fifth edition of the COPA Coca Cola football tournament enters the semi-finals and finals this weekend in Rubavu District in the Western Province.

The draws of the semi-finalists will be made on Thursday (today) at the Rwanda School Sports Federation (RSSF) head offices at the ministry for Education.    

The Bralirwa-sponsored U-17 tournament brings together teams from all districts of the country. It started with over 60 teams four months ago and only eight teams (four for boys and four for girls) are still in the race for the top prize of Rwf500, 000.

"This tournament helps our young players to develop their talents and the best of them get a chance to go to train at the some of the best academies under world class coaches,” the Director of sports in the ministry for Education, Paterne Rwigema, said.

Prize money:

Champions: Rwf500, 000

First runners-up: Rwf300.000

Semi-finalists: Rwf100.000
