May 29 Rayon Sports   vs     Kiyovu SCThe Association of Sports Journalists in Rwanda (AJSPOR) is set to organise a football match between rivals Rayon Sports and Kiyovu Sports Club to remember their colleagues, who were killed during 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi on May 29 at Amahoro National Stadium. The one-off match was initially supposed to be played between the newly crowned league champions Rayon Sports and record 13-times league winners APR but the military side opted out due to their Peace Cup semi-final second leg tie against AS Kigali on May 30.Rayon Sports Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya, confirmed the match last Friday. "It’s true we have agreed to play in that game because the (sports) journalists requested us and we couldn’t say no since it’s for a noble cause,” he said."It is also a good opportunity for us to remember our players, staff members and fans we lost during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi,” added Gakwaya.  The president of the journalists association Jean Butoyi, a veteran journalist at the Rwanda National Television RTV, while confirming the match, said, "We are organising this match as sign to remember our fellow sports journalists, who lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.”"…and since there was a few newspapers, radio stations and only one television station, it means there were not very many sports journalists then, nonetheless, we have got a few names that we feel its very important to remember them,” he noted.
