MTN Rwanda has announced it will be moving all pre-paid customers to a new upgraded system over the weekend. The telecom company has set Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July between 11pm to 7am respectively as the migration dates.

Management however warns that during the change-over period, customers may experience minor disruptions. Subscribers on MTN Pay As You Go, MTN per Second, MTN Gonga, MTN Flexi and Tuvugane are to be shifted.

To minimize inconveniences to customers, the statement says the shifting is to be carried out in the wee hours of the night.

Telecom players see the shifting from Converse to Ericsson platform as MTN’s drive to buttress itself as a leading telecom company.

"The move will enable MTN position it’s self technically to deliver more innovative products and services to our customers,” Themba Khumalo, MTN Chief Executive Office on Monday told journalist at the telecom head office in Nyarutarama on Monday.

This will see the telecom company provide the 820,000 subscribers with a value-for-money service. According to Khumalo, the migration will also align MTN Rwandacell with the MTN Group approved systems.

It’s hoped further that the shift will increase options for its product range in line with global standards.
