Nineteen-year old Team Rwandan rider Valens Ndayisenga dominated the one-day ‘Individual Time Trial’ cycling race on Sunday after clocking 27’16’’00.The 20 kilometers race started from Gashora to Nyamata in the Eastern Province and the young rider from Rwamagana won it ahead of a strong field that included his more experienced Team Rwandan teammates. He received Rwf50, 000 for his effort.Jeremie Karegeya finished second in a time of 28’00’’17 and walked away with Rfw40,000; Patrick Byukusenge came in third position after clocking 28’07’’33 and received Rfw20,000, while in fourth position was Innocent Uwamungu in 28’36’’16, who got Rfw10,000.UCI Continental Centre rider Janvier Hadi had a disappointing day, finishing ninth after he clocked 29’19’’19’’. Nathan Byukusenge came in 12th position with a time of 29’21’’50’’’.In women category, Jeannette Uwimana won the event with a time of 34’35’’46, in second position was Beathe Ingabire with time of 34’36’’55, while Jeanne d’Arc Girubuntu came in third after clocking 34’42’’34.This was the second race of its kind after the Team Time Trial held last month, which was won by Rubavu-based Benediction Cycling Club. The main objective of the race is to train local riders how to compete in trial races (Race against watch).
