Cabinet on Wednesday appointed several persons to various positions in public institutions.Among the appointees is Arthur Asiimwe, the former director-general of Health Communication Centre, who is now head the National Bureau of Broadcasting (Orinfor), replacing Willy Rukundo, who has been serving in acting capacity for more than three years."It is a great honour to have such a trust of the Cabinet,” Asiimwe said. "I know the existing challenges in Orinfor, but with the team I am joining, I will build on what the previous director started to offer better service to the country.”Claudine DeLucco Uwanyirigira was appointed as his deputy.Digital migrationThe new director-general said his priority includes working on the long-awaited digital migration of Orinfor, especially by ensuring that there is infrastructure for the shift.Asiimwe enters office when the law establishing the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (to replace Orinfor) is before Senate.In other appointments, Rose Rwabuhihi becomes the Chief Gender Monitoring Officer, replacing Oda Gasinzigwa, who was appointed Minister of Gender and Family Promotion in February.The Cabinet also approved the appointment of ambassadors Andrey Vradimirovich Polyakov, the new Russian envoy to Rwanda, and Anders Urban Andersson, who will represent Switzerland.Meanwhile, during the Cabinet sitting, the National University of Rwanda was given the green light to start 12 more post graduate programmes, 10 of which will be oriented in medical studies.
