Mbuyu & Haruna edge closer to Tz league title

Haruna Niyonzima has become a fans' favourite since joining Yanga two years ago.

Rwandan internationals Haruna Niyonzima and Mbuyu Twite are closing in on the Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League title with Yanga, who need just one point from the two matches to be crowned champions.Yanga lead the league table standing with 56 points, nine points ahead of second-place Azam, who, even if they win all their remaining three games, they will have 56 points and can’t catch the run-away champions, who have two games to play.Yanga, who are coached by former APR Dutch tactician Ernest Brandts, take on Coastal Union this weekend. Haruna and Mbuyu helped Yanga beat JKT Ruvu 3-0 at the weekend thanks to goals from Nizar Khalfan, Hamisi Kiiza and Stanley Nkomola."We are happy with the performance of our team, but have not finished our job yet, we have to win our remaining games and win the title,” Haruna told this paper from Dar es Salaam.He added: "I came here to win the Vodacom League and it will be my dream come true.” Haruna joined Yanga two years ago in a two year deal worth $30.000 (about Rwf 17m) as a signing on fee and a monthly salary of USD 1500 (Rwf0.95m), while Mbuyu signed a two-year deal last year and is reported to pocketed a sign-on fee worth $50,000.
