Intore Masamba to grace Chameleone’s concert

Rwanda’s top traditional singer, Intore Masamba has been lined up to perform in Kampala on April 26, as Dr. Jose Chameleone lauches his Badilisha album.The concert, which was first scheduled for February, will take place this Friday at the Kyadondo Rugby grounds.Professor Jay of Tanzania and Redsan of Kenya are expected to grace the concert not forgetting Ugandan musicians Irene Namubiru, Young Mulo, Juliana Kanyomozi and Jackie Chandiru, who will help to curtain raise for the concert."I met Chameleon at Knowless’s album launch, shared conversations and I recently received his invitation to perform at his launch,” confirmed Masamba.Masamba is expected to perform alongside his band, Gakondo. The group will also perform at Club Rouge in the concert dubbed "Rwandan Night”, which encourages Rwandans living in Uganda and Ugandans to embrace Rwanda’s traditional music.The Wirira star said that he believes that performing at Badilisha launch will give him an opportunity to increase his fan base in Uganda.Chameleone has become a pop idol in Africa with several of his songs popular on radio, in bars and clubs all over the continent. Several of his songs have turned into popular hits such as Basiima Ogenze, Shida Za Dunia, Nekolera Maali and Valu Valu, among others. He is credited for the rejuvenation of popular local music in Uganda at the turn of the 21st century. The singer, whose real name is Joseph Mayanja, was born in 1979 to a musical Mayanja family.
