Editor, This article is surely a great reminder to drivers who ignore some road signs irrespective of the fact that these signs help save lives. This reminder has inspired me to react to the common practice by many drivers in Kigali who ignore zebra crossing and drive at high speed while pedestrians are helplessly waiting by the side. From pedestrians’ rights perspective, these drivers intentionally deny pedestrians their basic rights to cross the roads comfortably. When I am driving, I personally, respect the road indicators by always taking caution to stop at zebra crossing to allow pedestrians to cross.Sometimes when I stop, some drivers behind start hooting. Drivers, please respect road signs as your obligation, if not, you will deny pedestrians their rights and cause accidents. Don’t forget that you might cause deaths.Clement Kirenga, Kigali RwandaReaction to the story, "Road indicators most ignored safety feature”, (The New Times, April 14)
