Bejaia started in low performance allowing the Rwandan team to advance several times. Bejaia then controlled the match in the second and third sets.Ahly snatched the third victory over AS Tanda (Cote d’Ivoire) in pool D to finish as leaders of the pool followed by FAP who defeated VB Diamand (Madagascar). Ndejje University clinched a crucial victory against Manga Sport (Gabon) in pool C to finish second and secure the quarter’s ticket. At the end of the preliminary round, Ahly and Pipeline were the only teams to win all their matches without dropping a set.  Defending champions Kenya Prisons lost their last match of Group B to GSP of Algeria going down 3-2 ( 25-22,25-27,25-23,28-30 and 15-12) in a tense match. This, therefore, meant Kenya Prisons will play Kenya Pipeline in the quarter finals on April 8 eliminating any chances of another all Kenyan finals as one of the two Kenyan teams has to drop out of the competition at this stage. With the loss, Kenya Prisons finished in second spot of Group B and will, therefore,   meet winners of Pool C who are Kenya Pipeline.Prisons are three-time consecutive champions of the African competition.
