It’s a rear phenomenon that students plan what they are going to do during their school breaks. Wenceslas Nzabalirwa, a teacher and a parent to two, gave some guidance below on how to go about it.

Help your parents

In your absence, parents do a lot work and get little time to rest. Tell them to send house-helpers back homes so that you can do the house work yourself. This will help you acquire new skills and a sense of responsibility that will lead you to another level of maturity.

Do some part-time work

A part-time job in this short school break off will help you gain working experience and make money. Such experience will also give an edge over others when it comes to future job applications.

Prepare for final examinations

Candidates waiting to sit for their final examinations should spend the school holidays preparing. Revise all the topics covered and also explore ahead on various topics and syllabuses.

Teachers suggest that students should always try their best to understand a topic themselves before it is taught in the classes. By the time the teacher comes to teach that topic it will be like revision for you.

Take some courses

There are ample short courses specially designed for students to choose from during the school holidays. Computer classes, English or French courses and driving courses are are great way to boost skills and meet new people.

Explore new places

Studying is tiresome and the holidays are supposed to be just that – a holiday. Take time to travel and do and see new things.

Rwanda has a lot to offer with its rich landscapes, and diverse collection of animals and birds. So traveling or visiting new places and friends can open your eyes to various things around the world and add memorable experiences to your lives.
