YesterdayPolice  1-1 Rayon SportPolice FC blew the chance to leapfrog leaders Rayon Sport at the summit of the Primus National Football League as they were held to a 1-all draw yesterday at Amahoro stadium.Striker Meddie Kagere had guided the Cops side into a 39th minute first half goal, putting to use Peter Kagabo’s well measured cross but Rayon Sport responded brightly and had a volley from Burundian import Cedric Amissi shot wide with five minutes to recess. The home side then dominated the midfield with Moussa Hakizimana comfortably putting Johnson Bagoole at bay. However, Police lost Hakizimana to injury in the second half and his replacement Jean d’Amour Uwimana was a turning point for the visitors as they surged for an equaliser. It could have been worse on the side for Rayon Sport as they had to secure the point with twelves minutes left to play.Time looked to be running out for six-time champions, who were on verge of conceding a second game in a space of three days following their midweek elimination from Peace Cup competition, before Amissi headed Leandre Sekamana’s cross to secure an equaliser in the 72nd minute. The visitors continued to press Police for a winner but goalie Alexis Nganza was at his best as he denied two efforts from skipper Aphrodis Hategikimana and Sekamana. The result means that Rayon Sport still lead the Primus league log with 42 points, one ahead of Police in 20 matches played this season.Defending champion APR continue to loom in third position with 35 points, seven points behind leaders Rayon Sport. With the yesterday’s result, there is no clear picture of the team which will lift the Primus League title this year. With six matches remaining to the end of the season, the big three have equal chances of lifting it.However, the next six matches for the three clubs will be vital as any kind of slip-up will grant the other chances of winning the league title.Rayon Sport will still face stiff competition from rivals Kiyovu, Isonga, Etincelles, AS Muhanga, Musanze and Espoir to the end of the season while Police which seem to have a fair opposition has Etincelles, AS Muhanga, Musanze, Espoir, Amagaju and AS Kigali lined up until the end of the season.Defending champion APR who are still in contention for a double has relatively weaker opponents who include; Amagaju, SC Kiyovu, AS Kigali, Isonga, La Jeunesse and Etincelles as the season will climax in May.
