THE NATIONAL volleyball youth girl’s team coach Paul Bitok has attributed the team’s dismal performance at the just concluded Africa Youth Championships in Cairo, Egypt on the lack of experience.Rwanda finished fourth out of the four teams that took part in the 5-day tournament after failing to register a single win in three matches, going down 3-1 to Algeria, 3-0 to champion Egypt and 3-0 against Tunisia.Bitok, who guided both the boys’ youth and junior team to the World championships, said, "We did our best, but it wasn’t enough against the best teams in Africa.”" But we must be patient, we have a good future with this team, the federation and government (of Rwanda) need to continue doing everything possible to keep this team together because next year it will be the junior team” added the former Kenyan international player.

He noted, "As a coach, I am satisfied because those teams we played against, have been competing at the highest level for over 20 years, and it was just our first time to be in this competition. I can’t complain much. The girls gave their all and I must give them credit for even being here in the first place.”
