RDF college students on study tour in Uganda

A delegation of 27 officer-students from the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) Command and Staff College, Nyakinama, are currently on a study tour in Uganda.

A delegation of 27 officer-students from the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) Command and Staff College, Nyakinama, are currently on a study tour in Uganda.The delegation, led by Col. Didas Ndahiro, includes 22 students and five directing staff from the Northern Province-based military college."The aim of the tour is to develop the students’ broader perspective on regional issues,” said Col. Ndahiro.The one-week tour is running under the theme, "Social economic development as pillar of national security.”Yesterday, the delegation visited Parliament of Uganda where they were apprised of the legislative system by Parliament Director Clerk Emmanuel Bakwega.The students also visited Defence Forces headquarters, where they were briefed by the Commandant, Lt. Gen. Katumba Wamala.Uganda’s ICT minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, briefed the students on the role of ICT in development and, thereafter, they visited Uganda’s Ministry of East African Community Affairs, where they were lectured on the benefits of regional integration."We were also briefed by the Ministry of Local Government on the role of decentralisation in the democratisation process,” Col. Ndahiro said.Yesterday, the students were expected to visit the Ministry of Trade and Industry and will be briefed on trade policy before they set off to the Senior Command and Staff College.As part of efforts to increase the knowledge of the students on regional issues, another delegation led by Brig. Gen. Jack Mupenzi is currently in Tanzania on a similar mission.
