ICT: We can not compare today with pre-Genocide Rwanda

Editor, I thank  Frank Kanyesigye for his article about ICT in Rwanda, and it’s really inspiring. However, comparing the ICT before Genocide and after Genocide, it’s like comparing dark and light or the Prehistoric period and Modern period for those who know history. Totally incomparable.

Not only there were no ICT initiatives, but also looking at other countries in Africa that time, I think that is the way things used to be. I think the good way of evaluating our progress, is to focus on what we need and where we want to be, then check our progress. We can also compare our progress with other countries like Kenya, Ghana, etc, like you did in your article.Thank you!Kirk, Kigali RwandaReaction to Frank Kanyesigye’s IT opinion, "Rwanda’s ICT ambitions bearing fruit”, (The New Times, March 25)
