Nyirinkwaya wins Rwanda Golf Open

UNHERALDED APHRODIS Nyirinkwaya won the 2013 RDB-Rwanda Open title after beating Uganda’s Willy Kitata 3-4 in the sudden death playoff on Saturday at the Kigali Golf Club in Nyarutarama.

Emmanuel Ruterana    280JB Hakizimana    284Ernest Ndayisenga    291UNHERALDED APHRODIS Nyirinkwaya won the 2013 RDB-Rwanda Open title after beating Uganda’s Willy Kitata 3-4 in the sudden death playoff on Saturday at the Kigali Golf Club in Nyarutarama.Trailing the leading pair of Kitata and Jules Mutesa by two shots going into the final day, the Rwandan youngster scored a boggy-free round of two-over-par 74 to finish the day level with the more experienced Ugandan, who made four putters.En route to his maiden Rwanda Open title, Nyirinkwaya, a player to watch in the years to come on the local scene, scored 5&4, while Kitata had 4&6 on the 17th and 18th holes, which forced the winner to be decided on a sudden death playoff between the pair.Meanwhile, Emmanuel Ruterana successfully defended his crown in the professional category to win his fourth Rwanda Open title since turning pro in 2005.The four-day tournament was sponsored by Rwanda Development Bank, Aqua Sipi drinking water, Bralirwa, Sulfo Industries, Tele10, Bourbon Coffee and Source Oil.
