APR Basketball Club have confirmed that Bunene Kajeguhakwa will not have any more part to play in the on going 2007 Zone V club championships that are being staged at Amahoro Indoor courts in Kigali.

The influential pivot has been ruled out after failing to recover from an ankle injury suffered during APR’s first group game last Saturday.

The club’s head coach Cliff Owuor says that Bunene’s injury is a big blow to the club.

"Of course his absence will be felt because he is one of the club’s key players.

But I have called upon all the other players to up their game,” Owuor said.

"Ivan Mico and Kimanuka Shalishali are my other options after Bunene’s injury,” the Kenyan tactician added.

APR are through to the semi-finals after topping their group.

The national defending league champions registered a 100% group display after victories over Ethiopia’s Club and Kenya Coperative Bank (Kenya).

Meanwhile in Group B, the championships’ defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank are also through to the semi-finals and will be joined by the winner between Nkumba (Uganda) and Urunani (Burundi).

Rwanda’s Espoir has already been ruled out of the semi-finals after suffering humiliating defeats against Urunani and Nkumba. In the ladies’ category, the race is still open.
