EAC investment conference attracts over 1000 investors

Hundreds of business executives allover the world have registered for the first ever East African Community Investment Conference which began today in Kigali. Francis Gatere, the Director General Rwanda Investment and Export Promotions Agency, said that more than 700 foreign business executives and over 200 local ones had registered to participate in the conference.

Hundreds of business executives allover the world have registered for the first ever East African Community Investment Conference which began today in Kigali.

Francis Gatere, the Director General Rwanda Investment and Export Promotions Agency, said that more than 700 foreign business executives and over 200 local ones had registered to participate in the conference. 

"We had targeted only 700 business executives but more than 1,000 have registered. We were forced to stop registering the local participants,” Gatare said in an interview with The New Times at the participant’s registration centre where he was receiving some guests. By 5 p.m. yesterday, the queues were still forming at Hotel de Mille Collines.

RIEPA, the East African Community Secretariat and Regional Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) organised the conference.

It is running under the theme: "Leveraging the East African Market Through Trade and Investment”.
