The German Ambassador to Rwanda, Peter Fahrenholz, has pledged more support to the Rwanda National Police to ensure the force achieves its mission.Fahrenholz said this, yesterday, as he paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana, at the Police Headquarters in Kacyiru.The envoy also said his visit was aimed at strengthening the bilateral cooperation that exists between Germany and the Rwanda National Police (RNP).  "I am very much impressed with the excellent work of the Rwanda Police and I came to see what we can do to further boost our cooperation,” he said. "If you want to keep peace in Africa, soldiers need to be trained to accomplish their duties in conflict zones.”He commended the security situation in the country, saying it enables business to flourish.Germany has been supporting the Rwanda National Police in capacity building such as training, criminal investigation and peace support.Germany, through its cooperation agency GIZ, funded the construction of peace support training centre at the Police Training School in Gishari, Rwamagana District.It has also been supportive to other programmes such as forensic science in photography, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and traffic policing.Chief Supt. Elisa Kabera, the director of International Cooperation in the force, said Fahrenholz and Gasana also reviewed the previous cooperation."The IGP appreciated the support the Germans have given to RNP in various areas, including training, in the National Police Academy, Criminal Investigations Department and others.”
