Benediction Club win ‘Time Trial’ race

Rubavu-based Benediction Cycling Club dominated the inaugural Time Trial cycling race held at the Free Trade Zone in Gasabo District on Sunday.

Fly came in third position with 49’12’’, Mixte was on fourth in a time of 49’30’’.Kiramuruzi Cycling Club finished on fifth after clocking 52’29’’, while Rapide came on last position with a time of 1h01’22’’.The winner Benediction Club walked away with Rwf150,000, second-placed Amis Sportifs got Rwf100, 000frw, while Fly, in third placed took Rwf80, 000.According to Rwanda Cycling Federation officials, the main objective of the race was to teach local riders to know and to compete in Time Trial Racing.Meanwhile, Adrien Niyonshuti’s South African team MTN-Qhubeka, led by their German sprinter Gerald Ciolek, won the famous Italian race Milan-San Remo on Sunday. It was the first time that a professional team from the African continent participated in this UCI World Tour race.
