Editor,This is in response to Anita Umunyana’s commentary, "What will be of our language in years to come? (The New Times, March 14).It is very interesting that the writer is raising fears over the fading of the Kinyarwanda language because I just came back from a trip to Kigali, my very first in about 15 years. Although I left when I was a teenager right after the Genocide, I spoke the language fluently, well maybe with a tinge of Kirundi here and there, but I still did speak it.Well, much to my amazement, when I returned, I could not understand most of what my little cousins or maids at home spoke and much less the news on television. So, I concur that a lot needs to be done to preserve the language but, most importantly,  restore it to its original set-up. Kudos to the writer for speaking up.Shabaka, Toronto, Canada
