Editor,I am aware NGOs or donors have had a bad reputation in international development but hate them or not, they have done a great job in Rwanda.Of course, there could have been dodgy NGOs, but don’t tell me donors or NGOs have not played a role in changing the face of development in this country.Let us be honest as a people and stop trivialising issues because some donors cut aid. I have worked for some NGOs and personally, I know how much I push to contribute to the development of our people. So, give us some credit.Lastly, instead of critising donors and NGOs, let us encourage our people to work hard and stop waiting on aid. Aid is not permanent and has never made anyone rich. If we want to become self sustaining, let us not wait on aid.Grace, Gasana, KigaliReaction to Pan Butamire’s opinion piece, "Rwanda should reject this "food for work” from the UK”, (The New Times, March, 8).
