Editor,This is with reference to the story, "Bandora extradited”, (The New Times, March, 11).What excuses, other than manifestly political, can British and French authorities now use to shield Genocide suspects from facing justice in the country where they perpetrated their crimes?The last time I checked, both London and Paris were subject to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights which has now ruled that all these suspects’ claims they would not receive fair trials in Rwanda are mere baloney. If London and Paris refuse to send back for trial people accused of committing what humanity has labelled the ultimate crime, then we can draw a clear conclusion regarding their real commitment to human rights and the rule of law.This would be a better gauge of that commitment, not their ceaseless but usually patently empty preaching about human rights. Let’s wait and see, but don’t hold your breath; sanctimonious lecturing is in their genes.Mwene Kalinda, Kigali
