Rwanda’s girls' basketball team on Tuesday evening, July 11, departed for Monastir, Tunisia, ahead of the forthcoming the 2023 FIBA U16 Africa championships slated for July 13 to 23.

The East African country booked the ticket to the continental championship after winning the Zone V qualifiers that took place in Kigali in June.

Meanwhile, their U16 brothers left for Monastir on Monday night, July 10, where they will participate in the same championship in boys’ category.

Rwanda U16 boys’ team was awarded a wildcard to participate at the continental showpiece after finishing second FIBA U16 Zone V African Basketball Championship qualifiers in Kigali last month.

Egypt, Mali, Algeria, Angola, Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria and hosts Tunisia are the other countries that have already qualified for the finals.
