American church to construct school

Two American pastors, Dr Sonny Foraker and Don Schwarz, from the First Baptist Church in Texas, have arrived Rwanda to survey a piece of land in Gasabo District where they intend to build a primary and secondary school.

Two American pastors, Dr Sonny Foraker and Don Schwarz, from the First Baptist Church in Texas, have arrived Rwanda to survey a piece of land in Gasabo District where they intend to build a primary and secondary school.

Pastor Foraker told The New Times that the school will be built to help needy children from surrounding communities. He said his church wanted to help Rwanda by getting involved in education-for-all programmes.

First Baptist Church already runs charitable activities in Kenya, Ethiopia, DR Congo, Burkina Faso, among other African nations.

The construction works for the school on a three-hectare land will begin early next year. However, the cost of the construction is yet to be ascertained.

TheFirst Baptist Church, through a local church, Emmaus Christian Mission, has also helped over 800 disadvantaged children go back to school and has given 305 others access to health insurance scheme (Mutuelle de Sante).
