Rwanda win opener at African Junior Championship

Rwanda Junior National team (U21) got their campaign off to a flier with a 3-1 win over Congo Brazzaville in the first match of group A at the 2013 Africa Junior Championships played yesterday in Tunisia.

Today Tunisia   vs  Rwanda  7pmRwanda Junior National team (U21) got their campaign off to a flier with a 3-1 win over Congo Brazzaville in the first match of group A at the 2013 Africa Junior Championships played yesterday in Tunisia.Rwanda won the first and second sets 25-17 and 25-18 respectively, before Congo came from behind to win the third set 25-22, but Paul Bitok’s side reorganised to secure the fourth set 25-15.Bitok’s young troops are back in action this evening against defending champions and tournament hosts, Tunisia. Rwanda needs to win to increase their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.It will be resting on Monday for Rwanda as they prepare to play against Sierra Leone on Tuesday, before playing the final group game against Algeria on Wednesday.Rwanda is in a tough group which includes two favourite teams, the defending champion Tunisia and Algeria.Group B comprises Egypt, Morocco, Libya, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The four semi-finalists will qualify for the World Championship due to take place in Turkey at the end of August.
