On Friday night, the FESPAD carnival headed to the East (Lake Kivu Serena Resort), which traditionally plays host to the highly-billed beach parties. The party, which drew revellers from across the region, started early (9:00pm) and ended late (3:00am).Not even a last-minute announcement that Nigerian singer Ice Prince would be a no-show could dent the mood. If anything, the local acts that were to curtain raise for Prince filled his shoes well beginning with Uncle Austin, who jumped on stage first, and whose I’m in Love ballad drew many calls for an encore. Playing to a live band, Austin was followed by Dr. Claude, before the show’s headline act, Kidumu took revellers on a musical marathon, putting up a stellar and solid 2-hour performance.
