ANITA IS a four-decade-old song written and recorded by one of the greatest band in the country, the Orchestre Impala. Many of us grew up listening to this love hit. The older it gets the better it sounds. In the track, the artist begs his lover (Anita) to forgive him. Some of the lyrics: "Anita please forgive me/I promise I will never hurt you again,” Though the words in the song are simple – and the song is a sad one – the guitar, drum and trumpets make you want to listen to it over and over again. Though many members of the band died mostly during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, the song, just like their other hits, still rocks. Every weekend new music bands across the country play this song to the Impala and old school music (Karahanyuze) fans.
