When you were in primary school, you probably played football as your first sport. In high school, you were a basketball/volleyball star. At college, you were perhaps the top scorer for your college team.Then you graduated and found a job in the corporate world. And out went your passion for active sports. Now you are content merely routing for your favorite team, which you only follow via the media.If this scenario describes you, an obvious sports lover, why should your participation in team sports suddenly be cut off when you enter the corporate jungle of commuting, board meetings and conference calls? The good news is it doesn’t have to. Now it’s possible to actively pursue your favourite hobby through the company you work for. Now, instead of competing with (and against) classmates, here is a chance to join fellow corporate workers on the field. Time to indulge in some entertainment and fun. Run, dodge, dribble, score …!ENTER CORPORATE LEAGUE RWANDACome April 24, 2013, the inaugural season of the Corporate League Rwanda will kick off at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. Formed this year, and headquartered in Kigali, the league aims at creating an interactive corporate platform where individuals from different companies go to interact on a personal basis, through sports. "It is meant to act as an external team-building programme for member companies and also to improve on the physical fitness of many who are tied up possibly for long hours behind their desks in the corporate world,” reads a press statement from the organisers.The league will run annually between April and November – which will be the major sporting period. Fixtures have been drawn for every last Saturday of the month, to include football, volleyball, pool, basketball, rugby, athletics, and table tennis, among others.We shall hold the awards dinner in the first weekend of December to recognise all participating teams and those personalities that will have excelled during the season.  Awarding of points:  During the course of the season, the league’s technical panel shall award points to the teams that excel in the areas of: Prompt payment of subscriptions, smartness, time keeping at all the Corporate League events, attendance of the league’s events including meetings, and support in form of sponsorships. Cumulative points earned from each of the games and other criteria shall be used to determine the overall winner of the league.And that’s not all. The Corporate League Rwanda will also publish a quarterly magazine to cover activities of the league, company branding and advertisements.The deadline for registration is April 5, 2013, and registration shall be on first-come-first-register basis.
