Editor,This is in reaction to the article, "Tough questions in 2017 succession debate”, (The New Times, February 28).Thanks to Arthur Asiimwe for the article and for playing the devil’s advocate. "Are you guys changing for the sake of changing or are you changing because you genuinely want the change?” This is a very important question. However, change theories have always showed that there will be much or less resistance because we are not sure what the change will bring. It is better the devil that you know than the angel you don’t. Not for Kagame though. At this point, there must be change; either of the constitution or the President. But for Rwandans to approve or disapprove the change, I suggest that the RPF cadres propose a list of potential successors to President Kagame and since they know all Rwandans, and in case no one fits, then we go for constitutional change to keep President Kagame in the driver’s seat since nobody so far questions his manner of driving. Otherwise, you will continue to play the devil’s advocate until you are squeezed into a corner. Hope, New Delhi, India
