Police in Rwamagana district are holding four employees of Banque Populairie du Rwanda (BPR) in connection with theft of Rwf39m from the bank’s Rwamagana branch, and Kiramuruzi sub-branch.The latest theft comes barely four months after Police arrested a bank official when Rwf42m went missing from BPR Kirehe branch. In what seemed a well-coordinated fraud, money from the two branches went missing at the same time and day.Eastern Judicial Police Officer Superintendent Benoit Nsengiyumva, who confirmed the arrests, said investigation into the fraud is going on and many other suspects may be arrested in the course of investigations."The two prime suspects may have fled the country, but we are still investigating. We are holding four bank staff, including a security guard,” he said.Sup. Nsengiyumva, who doubles as the province’s police spokesman, said bank fraud is a serious crime in the country.
