Rwandan duo to participate in NBA Summer League

Rwandan coaches Maxime Mwiseneza and Jacques Bahige are among the 28 basketball coaches from 17 African countries selected to participate in the NBA 2K24 Summer League, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 7-17, 2023.

The duo, who both serve as assistants at REG men and women teams respectively, form part of the Africa coaches program which builds on NBA Africa’s and Basketball Africa League’s (BAL) commitment to building the capacity and expertise of coaches from the continent, improving the quality of the on-court product, and contributing to the continued growth of basketball in Africa.

The 2023 NBA Summer League, also branded as the NBA 2K24 Summer League 2023, is the off-season competition held by the National Basketball Association (NBA) primarily at the Thomas and Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada on the campus of University of Nevada.

The league will have at least one coach from the six teams that took part in the 2023 BAL season. These are Al Ahly (Egypt), Cape Town Tigers (South Africa), City Oilers (Uganda), Petro de Luanda (Angola), REG (Rwanda) and US Monastir (Tunisia).

Mwiseneza will be on the technical staff of Philadelphia 76ers, while Bahige will be with the Indiana Pacers.
