Ruterana braces for Kenya Open

Rwanda’s leading golfer Emmanuel Ruterana has said that he is mentally and physiologically prepared to have a shot at the 2013 Barclays Kenya Open that tees off today at Karen Country Club in Nairobi.

Rwanda’s leading golfer Emmanuel Ruterana has said that he is mentally and physiologically prepared to have a shot at the 2013 Barclays Kenya Open that tees off today at Karen Country Club in Nairobi.Ruterana, who talked to Times Sport on phone from Nairobi yesterday, said "I am practicing and I have no reason not to stage a good performance in this tournament."I am well prepared and looking forward to the tournament. I have had some good time in training and I am ready for the task,” added Ruterana, who was grateful to members of Rwanda golf union who supported him financially to ensure that he meets the necessary costs for the tournament.Ruterana further added that his target is to get past the first round by meeting the cut to qualify for the money-spinning round in the four-day 72 holes event scheduled to end on Sunday.More than 100 players, including 22 Kenyan professionals, will be battling for top honours. Among the visiting pros at Karen is Welshman Rhys Davies, former US amateur champion Peter Uihlein, Steven Tiley and 2005 Kenya Open Champion Daniel Vancsik from Argentina, who is the only South American player in this year’s championship.Davies is drawn with Kenya Open Golf Limited chairman Peter Kanyago and Paul Kaguamba, who are both single figure handicap players.The event returns to Karen after four years. Last year’s edition at Muthaiga Golf Club saw England’s Seve Benson walk away with the top prize of Rwf 25m.
