The central administration of the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda (INMR) has relocated from Huye district to Kigali. This, according to management, is part of their resolve to cut operating costs spent on several activities that brought them to Kigali very often. The team has been operating from the Rwanda Ethnographic Museum, based in Huye in the Southern Province, and started relocating after a green light from the board of directors. Alphonse B. Umuliisa, the Director General of INMR, told The New Times, yesterday, that they used to spend a lot of money on staff who are always obliged to travel to Kigali for meetings and financial reports."We were also isolated and that’s how our staff sometimes miss training other civil servants  always benefit from,” he said. So far, 15 members of staff are operating from the Rwanda Natural History Museum (Kandt House). They include the financial team, the planning team, the human resource officer, the logistic officer and the public relations officerMoving to Kandt House is temporary, according to Umuliisa, because the Rwanda Housing Authority still has to find bigger space to host the head office."We shall keep following closely the team which has remained there, made up of the manager, researchers and cultural promotion team,” he said.
