PM Ngirente meets Chinese envoy to Rwanda

Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Amb. Wang Xuekun, at his office on Friday, June 30. Their discussions revolved around strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in key areas of mutual interest.

Xuekun told reporters after the meeting that their "productive discussions” aimed at fostering friendship and bilateral development between the two countries.

China is determined to contribute to the development of Rwanda and aims to actively participate in various sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, health, and education, among others.

"We would like to see the mutual benefits and support in all areas of the cooperation,” he said

The Director General of Asia and Pacific Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Phillip Karenzi, noted that the Prime Minister appreciated the Chinese government&039;s significant support towards Rwanda’s development across sectors including health, education, and investment.

"China has been supporting Rwanda in different sectors, including trade and investments. they have also provided grants for various projects, as well as assistance in education and infrastructure development,” Karenzi said.

Karenzi noted that China has made notable contributions including the renovation and expansion of Masaka Hospital, which will be the premises of the new University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK). Additionally, they also provided support to people affected by floods and landslides in parts of the country.
