NSENGIYUMVA 16h39’11’’ 44’04’’Jérémie Karegeya, the youngest member of Team Rwanda proved age is just a number after all by being the highest Rwandan finisher on stage five of the La Tropicale Amissi Bongo 2013 tour in Gabon.The 19-year old rider, a younger brother of team captain Nathan Byukusenge outdid his elder team mates over the 190.4km stage, coming in on 27th place in a time of 04h37’40”, just 50 seconds behind the winner, Belgian Frédérique Robert of Team Lotto Belisbol, who used 04h36’50” 10”.Byukusenge, Team Rwanda’s highest ranked rider on the general classification after five stages in 29th position, didn’t have the best of days, finishing 44th. Another youngster Hassan Rukundo was 40th, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana (41), Valens Ndayisenga came in at 64th, while Jean-Bosco Nsengiyumva’s struggles continued as he finished last.Karegeya finished ahead of Kenya’s John Njoroge, who took third place in the 2012 Tour of Rwanda, and his excellent performance helped him up the general classification table to 75th.
