Before we could learnt of the nominees of the 2012 Salax Music Awards, that were supposed to be announced yesterday evening, Alex Muyoboke, a former manager of Tom Close had the previous day released his own list of nominees for every category in the Salax Awards. To the surprise of many, Muyoboke omitted two time Salax Awards winner Tom Close in any of the categories up for competition. His list of nominees that was posted on his Facebook wall caused uproar among many a music fans with many asking themselves how he’d leave out Tom Close yet he released a ten track album last year which had hit songs like ‘Komeza utsinde’.Some of the comments on Facebook was from the fan identified as Emery TheBen Platini TMC who asked, "excluding Tom Close from the list doesn’t help you. Tom Close, Keep it up.” Patycope T. Patrick, a famous music critic on the social media said,  "there’s no way I can agree with you. Why do you hate Tom Close that much? Everyone knows Tom Close had a good 2012”In his response, Muyoboke said, ‘I compiled this list based on the achievements of different musicians last year. Those of you who think I was biased can go ahead and make their own list of nominees because these are my own predictions.”Tom Close and Muyoboke fell apart when he fired him as manager. Muyoboke is credited for playing a big role in the music careers of Tom Close, The Ben, Urban Boys and Dream Boys, having promoted them while they were still young. However, Tom Close has always accused him of creating bad blood between him and other musicians. Muyoboke is the current manager of Urban Boys.By press time, Tom Close wasn’t available for comment.Meanwhile, Afro beat musician, Kitoko Bibarwa, who is touring Europe, has withdrawn from the awards citing incompetence of the organisers and emphasised he’ll never be part of them or accept any awards. He was one of the musicians expected to win in most categories. This year’s Salax Awards ceremony is slated for March 9 at the Kigali Serena Hotel. The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and Culture.
