Smartphones have surpassed desktop computers and laptops as the preferred devices for completing work, according to a report by technology firm Cisco.The Connected World Technology Report released Monday shows that 90 per cent of global youth check their mobile phones before eating, dressing or brushing their teeth in the morning.They compulsively check their smartphones for emails, SMS or social media updates."Of those compulsive smart phone users, 60 per cent wish they didn’t feel so compelled,” notes the report in part.The study was carried out among 1,800 university students and young professionals in 18 countries, including South Africa, India and China, with a similar number of Information Technology professionals being polled.
