Prior to the screening of the movie, Willison Misago, the CEO of Zacu Entertainment, talked about how Rwandan filmmakers are coming to pass, saying he has always wanted to see a Rwandan movie, acted and produced by Rwandans being screened in Rwanda. This is what inspired Zacu TV to acquire a slot on Canal and encouraged the likes of Serge Girishya, a cinematographer, to put all his efforts into making such a masterpiece.

Sharing his experience about working with new and young people in the film industry, Serge Girishya, the writer and director of the movie told The New Times that: "Working with the very big names was so hard, they could hardly trust what I do since I was also a beginner. Plus, I realized that big talents are not only in the most experienced people in the industry, fresh beginners can also do wonders with their abilities too. So, I wanted to give the platform and opportunities to the young ones so that they can showcase their talents.”

The screening was graced by several Rwandan celebrities

For Antoinette Uwamahoro, being part of the movie with a younger generation, she said means a lot to her.

"Acting as the leader arresting all the bandits was a fitting role for me. I immediately trusted the producer after reading the script since I knew that he studied film-making. Acting with those young people was a way to also teach them what I am capable of, and pass on the skills as well,” said Uwamahoro.

Girishya added that he chose the genre of action movies since they were not popular in Rwanda and that he wanted to showcase Rwandan talent.

"I wanted to show that there is a lot that we can do to put our cinema on the pedestal. I also wanted to challenge myself to do bigger and bring the changes I always wanted to see in the Rwandan cinema,” he said.

Misago on the other hand said that Rwandan cinema is one of the main focuses of Zacu Entertainment.

"Serge showcased his talent and ability as he brought in a very creative and innovative action style. We joined him after the production, we are helping him with distribution, at the Cinema Center and on different TVs in Rwanda when it is officially out,” he said.

DUTY 3 will be shown at Canal Olympia, Rebero for two consecutive weeks.
