Seismic results don’t determine oil volume

Editor,Just to add that there’s no way the seismic results will determine how much oil we have. The quantity of oil can only be determined after wells have been drilled. The seismic results will, however, delimit the potential hydrocarbon zone but that won’t mean that there’s hydrocarbon.  The only way to confirm existence will be to drill exploration well. (Reaction to the story, "Oil prospects gain momentum”, The New Times, December 7)Alain, Mozambique

Butamire right on aidI wish to thank Pan Batumire for his article, "Rwandans will not be diverted from their course, hata wakonde.....” (The New Times, December 7). I really did like the flow of his point of view! I think Rwanda and Africa, in general, should look hard at ways of moving literally from Aid relationship with the West or any other kind of super power for that matter! The result will never change. As long as one party has an upper hand, there will never be a fair game. Thanks again for this well written piece!Erick M, Boston, MA
