Sibomana set to sign for Qatari club

FORMER Groupe Scolaire and Nyanza Volleyball player Placide ‘Madison’ Sibomana has joined Christophe Mukunzi at Qatari first division club, Al-Arabi Sports Club.Sibomana, who featured for Nyanza Volleyball Club last season, joins fellow Rwandan internationals Mukunzi and Vincent Dusabimana Gasongo, who plays for An-Aghallfa Sports Club, also in the Qatari first division.Mukunzi and Gasongo crossed to Qatar from the Algerian first division league.  Former Rwanda National University star Gasongo played for Etoile Sportive de Setif, while former Kigali Volleyball player Mukunzi was based in USM Alger.According to the technical Director in Volleyball Federation, Christian Hatumimana, Sibomana, who left the country last Friday, will first go through a rigorous test before signing the contract."If he signs, it will be good for him and the national team because he’s joining the best club in Qatar, but he will first undergo trials, which he needs to pass before anything is decided,” said the former Rwanda Revenue coach.Other Rwandan professional players include Lawrence Yakan Guma, who features for Algerian first division Etoile Sportive de Setif, Elie Mutabazi (France second division) and Jean de Dieu Uwimana based in Belgium.
